Class #8 Weddings

1.Since Japanese weddings are expensive, do you think having a massive wedding like Korea or UAE is a good idea? Why?
I don't know a wedding in Krea and UAE.
However I think that it is good because weddings are only one time.

2. What do you think about eloping? Is it a good idea or romantic? Why?
I think that it is romantic. It is like a drama! Not real!

3. Have you ever thought about having a wedding in a foreign location like Hawaii? Would you do it? Why?Or Why not?
I have ever thought it.
However it is very expensive...
I want to celebrate and come to a lot of people.
So I want to have a wedding in Japan.

4.What is your ideal wedding?
My ideak wedding is celebrated all people.
And, I want all people to feel happy.
I have not thought in detail.

5.What would you definitely do, wear or go to on that big day? Why is that important?
I wear beatiful white dress, and make up
I want to be perfect beatiful woman.

6. Have you ever been to a foreigner's wedding? What was your impression?
No,I haven't ever been to a foreigner's weddindg.
I want to go it.

Class #7 Superstitions

1.Do you think it is important to talk about superstitions in cross culture communication class? Why?
Yes, I think it is important in this class. I think that it is very useful. Also when we understand each other culture, it may express the hint.

2.Is communication affected by superstitions?
Ithink not so affected. Because I think that we use the superstitions in everyday conversation. Also, I seldom use the superstutuions.

3.Do you believe in superstitions? If yes, what superstitions do you believe?Why do you do, use, or believe in them?
I don't believe in superstitions.

Class #6 Time

1. Please explain a time proverb in your culture.
I think time is considered very valuable thing in my culture proverb. We can' t see the shape of time. And we can't grab the time. However I think that time is expresed as if we see or grab it in our proverb.


2. What do the following proverbs mean:
a. Time is money.

This is well-known. It means that time is very veluable as well as money, so we shouldn't be waste the time.

b. A stitch in time saves nine.
It means that we would rather do everything ahead of time. Then you wouldn't have to feel pressed.

c. There's no time like the present.
It means that you get a big oppotunity when you are said it someone.
This proveb express encouragement.

d.Let's meet at 4. If I'm not there by 5, leave without me at 6, and I'll be there at 7.
I'm sorry. I don't know this meaning, and I can't find it.

Class #4 Friends

1. What are some subjects that you will never discuss with a friend?
I have no idea. I talk everything with my trust friends.

2. Do you have different friends for different parts of your life? If so, how are they different to you? Do you talk about different things? Go to different places? Give me some examples.
Yes. I am shy and do a lot of listening but not much talking. There are many great talke in my friends. There are peple that have a talk about interesting things, and people that have a talk about serious things. Also, I go to with my friends cinema, shopping and cafe and so on.

Class #3 The Language of clothes

1. Do you judge people according to what they wear? Why?
I judge people by some measures according to what they wear. Because Ithink that the clothes show what kind of boy/girl he/she is.
Also, If I see the person who wear similar type of clothes, I feel close to the person.

2. Do you think Japanese society puts an importance on clothing when judging other people from another country?
No. Because many Japanese wear clothes that are in fashion, especially young people.
I think that we can judge as someone continue to age.


3. What colors are you wearing now? Do they reflect your mood?
I wear black dress and white jacket clothes now.
I have a lot of white and black clothes. They don't reflect my mood today.
Sometimes clothes reflect my mood in my case. For example, Iget the urge to wear more color clothes when I am good mood.

Class #2 Death and Funerals

1.Death and Funerals

a. Do you have any international friends or a host family? If so, how would you express your condolences to them if a family member died? If not, then how would you express condolences to an American host family if their Grandmother died?
No, I haven't.
If my grandmother died, I just stand there.

I don't know the way of funeral. I never broke the precious time for my host family.
However If I can, I examine it, I want to do as much as possible.

b. Have you ever been to a foreign funeral?
I don't have ever been to a foreign funeral.


2. The language of Clothes

a.Why are Japanese designer label crazy? Why is what you wear so important?
I think that Japanese feel like status by having designer label.
However it is not so imprtant. Also, I think thathave declined over the past few years


b.What does “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.” mean to you?
I think it means that we shouldn't regard by its appearance.
Also we don't know about it until finish a book.

Class #1 Fall 2009

1. Do you agree with the web site's description?What do you do that can be called "wrapping"? and reasons for your actions.
I agree with web site. I surely think many goods is wrapped inidividual in Japan. It reason is convenient and easy to use. Also it appearance is good and looks very polite. Japanese more care about appearance than other people. I think that "wrapping" is the one of the Japanese culture.

2. a. Where do you go when you die?
I don't know. However I think that everyone become happy after dead. And I hope it.

b. Explain why do Japanese have death memorial services 1 month, 1 year, 3 years, 7 years, etc. after a person's death?
Put simply, it is traditional. In general, anniversary of the death of 30 years or 50 years are last. I think that I keep reminding read person. Memory gradually fade. However we can bring back to memory by it.
